Salad Days
April 30, 2010
One of my favorite movies is "Raising Arizona." My favorite line from that movie is when Nicholas Cage looks at Holly Hunter and says, "Baby, these are our salad days." It's safe to say that the month of April is my salad days. I've put in a lot of 15-hour days this month between shooting and then coming home to edit.
Who was the idiot that said digital would make things easier? In a lot of ways it has made things easier, but it's also made things a lot more complicated because of the editing process. Back in the film days, I would drop off my rolls of film and let them do all the work. Not so anymore. I'm now the photographer, the lab tech, and the editor.
It's hard to believe that I spent the the first 23 years as a photographer working in chemicals and film, and that I've only been working as a digital photographer for nine years. It seems more like a lifetime.
Here's a small glimpse at some of the stuff I've been working on this month.
