11th Region Basketball Images

I covered the 11th Region Basketball Tournament for the Lexington Herald-Leader this week. I love when the district tournament roles around in late February, because that means three things. First, the regional tournaments are next, during the first week of March. Then the boys and girls Sweet Sixteen's happen next, during the middle of the March Madness of college basketball. When I was in high school I loved this time of year, when my friends and I would pack up and head to Louisville or Lexington to watch the state tournament live, and then go back to the motel and watch NCAA tournament on television. The third thing that goes hand-in-hand with all this basketball, is warmer weather and spring time. If haunted houses and fall festivals usher in the beginning of autumn, then the heat generated by Kentucky basketball in March surely brings on the beginning of spring in the Bluegrass State.
