Laura's
Entrepreneurial Spirit: July 16, 2009
I
was working in Louisville and Laura calls me. She says, "Daddy, I want
to open a cat food store." I'm having trouble hearing her. I said, "A
cat food store!?!" She says, "No! A Tattoo store." So when
I got back home we set up a table and her little portable tattoo maker with
stencils on the sidewalk. It was about 90 degrees outside and needless to
say, she wasn't bringing in a lot of business. But like any good entrepreneur,
she retooled her business and started selling bottled water, in addition to
temporary tattoos. She wound up selling bottled water for a dollar a bottle
and tattoos for 50 cents. She made $14.50 in one day. Complete strangers were
pulling over and buying bottled water. It was amazing. And the beauty of it
was, we didn't use one red cent of bailout money when her tattoo store was
on the brink! I'm very proud of her.
