I was fortunate as a kid that my parents traveled with me a lot. They took me out of class when I was in third grade to spend three weeks traveling the American Southwest in an RV. When we got to the Grand Canyon it was fogged over, so I had to enjoy it from a book. Twenty years later, I made up for the missed opportunity by backpaking it on three different occasions. I appreciate that photography has allowed me to see America from behind the lens.
